Hi, I‘m Harmeet.

From Privilege to Pit: A Real Life Journey of Entrepreneurial Redemption

My name is Harmeet Kelley and I am sharing a heartfelt story about my real life journey of entrepreneurial redemption.

But before I write a word further I want you to know that…
The fact that you are reading this means a world to me and it truly warms my heart to know that you are present here right now.

I intend and hope to build an everlasting connection with you by sharing this piece of my own real life story. Kindly, do allow me a few moments to tell you a little about myself and share my story with you.

MY BACKGROUND

Born in a joint family and a well to do business family life was all good and great, had a great childhood, lovely parents and had the best of everything. I was good in studies and also did well in sports and I had the so-called great and perfect life, only uptill the year 2001.

Little did I know that the tragedy was around the corner and my so-called great life was about to get toppled over. I could not even imagine what I was about to experience in my life.

It was April of 2001 and in a very unfortunate event I lost my grandfather to a road accident and he was the one who had built the family business from scratch. His was a rags to riches story, extraordinary and exemplary struggle and super success.

And what followed after that was a downward spiral whose spin just couldn’t be controlled. Before I could even comprehend or fathom what was going on, life had spun out of control.

THE JOURNEY TO DISCOVERING MYSELF

From the moment I lost my grandfather, a part of me always desired to be like him. He was and is my role model and the person I really look up to in many ways. I also wanted to be an entrepreneur just like my grandfather.

But when life was spinning out of control this seemed to be a far fetched thing to do or follow. What followed after was the endless career and life struggles, devastating lows and crushing failures that plunged me into a pit of darkness and hopelessness.

What I was going through was just too overwhelming and I was facing failures on multiple fronts - studies, career, life and mere surviving through that seemed like a victory.

I wanted to ensure my survival and wanted to give my life and career some direction.

GETTING INTO CORPORATE

There were multiple financial challenges and even going to college seemed like a luxury and somehow I managed to complete my masters while doing some part time work as well and after completing my masters finding a job was another challenge. I somehow managed to find myself a decent job that could at least ensure my survival and pay for my expenses. Getting into a job for many people feels like an achievement but for me it was like I had fallen into a pit so low that I could never even imagine coming out of that rat race.

While I was going through this gloomy phase in life and sometimes it was like cloudy and sunny sometimes and I knew in my heart of hearts that I can’t survive in the corporate world. I changed many jobs and made multiple wrong career moves only to discover that I did not belong there and wanted to do something bigger and better.

Finally one fine day I had enough of it in a job that I found to be just too stressful and I knew I had to make a decision for my life. The entrepreneur within me wanted more out of life and I decided to start a business.

SHIFTING CAREERS AND FAILING IN BUSINESS

After changing and shifting many jobs in corporate when I failed to find a career and a place for myself in corporate, I decided to start a business. I knew I couldn't go back to my family business because that business was also struggling and I knew I was not ready for it, so I finally decided to start a business of my own.

I borrowed some capital from my parents and started the business of teaching and consulting. Coming from a business family I thought I knew everything about business and I started a service based business only to find myself in the trap of self employment. I was working most of the time in my business and had no team, freedom or life for myself. I was also not making any profits and I failed at marketing and sales.

If there is one thing I know about a service based business is that you need to do marketing and sales consistently in your business and I sucked at marketing and sales even though I had an MBA degree in marketing and sales to my name. I just did not have the skills that are needed to be successful.

It was when I failed at marketing and sales that I finally decided to learn everything about entrepreneurship, marketing and sales. I just became a student of the subject and dived deep into it and thus went on to the path of re-educating myself and developing real skills. And I am glad I did that.

RE-EDUCATION AND REDISCOVERING ENTREPRENEURSHIP

After getting one set back after another it was just too much for me. But I didn’t let these setbacks define me. I knew I had the strength and determination to create a better life and future for my family and my loved ones. And that’s exactly what I did.

Finally in the year 2017 when I was blessed with a daughter I decided to provide the best life I can for her and my loved ones and I started to reignite my career and skills. I became a student of entrepreneurship, marketing and sales alongside the world of personal development.

It was a risk that I had to take. I knew that I needed to learn how to build a business, develop skills in marketing and sales and like they say where there is a will there's a way. I poured all my savings into learning and picking up skills in marketing and I went on a rampage of learning one course after the other, late night webinars, books, trainings countless hours and energy spend in that direction and despite putting all the time, money and effort into them I never lost the sight of my goal.

Despite all the challenges and struggles that came my way, I persevered and worked tirelessly to create a better life for myself and my loved ones. And now, looking back on that difficult time, I am grateful for the lessons it taught me and the strength it helped me find within myself.

I levelled up by skilling up. It wasn’t an easy journey, I had more than fair share of my struggles and it was the aspirations of living a better life and blessings of my grandfather that kept me going. Many times I would still recall the words of wisdom by my grandfather and I know I have and will continue to make him proud.

As I reflect back on the journey of building my agency, I am filled with emotion and gratitude.

CREATING IMPACT

Along the way, I have had the honour of learning from some of the most influential leaders in the industry like Blair Singer, Robert Kiyosaki, Brian Tracy, Harv Eker, and Tony Robbins and many others.

I believe there are a lot of people who already have a good product or service its just that when they don’t know the marketing and sales they are not able to really deliver the impact and somehow marketing and sales have earned the reputation of being salesy, slimy and deceitful which is far from being true.

Of course there are people who are who do marketing and sales with a me first approach that is where it becomes all about them and it gets to be slimy whereas if you start to do things with a customer centric approach then it becomes about them and I would want to redefine modern marketing and sales that is value driven approach and is truly embedded in true service as its core.

One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been the opportunity to learn and train entrepreneurs and business owners on the power of marketing and sales. I have had the privilege of impacting over 200 entrepreneurs now in the last 10 months, and I have seen firsthand the positive impact that my work has had on their lives and businesses.

As I have helped others grow, I have also grown as a person. I have gained a deeper understanding of marketing and implementation, and I have matured in my approach to business. It has been an incredible journey, and I am grateful for it every step of the way.

SPIRITUAL LIFESTYLE AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

A lot of my work is grounded in the evergreen principles of personal development and I echo the voice and mission of my mentor Blair (I am proud to be his student and I am sold on his mission) ie. to create the best teachers, leaders and facilitators in the world that change the way we learn in the marketplace and ultimately uplift the consciousness of humanity at large and improve the standard of life for people.

With all the work I do, I am deeply committed to living a simple and fulfilling life. I have devoted myself to the study of personal growth and spiritual sciences. I believe in simple living and high thinking - with a giving and service to mankind being the core. I believe simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
